Ironman 70.3 Singapore

Today was not a great day. It’s not the time I did in the swim, bike or run, the punctures, the draft fest on the bike, the confusing directions, the clueless public meandering and obstructing the course, the hopeless marshals, or, the 8th place finish that I’m disappointed about. It’s that I didn’t do my best.

It’s times like these that make you question the path you have chosen for yourself and the self-doubts come creeping back. Then, once with some energy food inside you and have a chat with the boss, you do another reality check. You halt the pathetic self-pity, re-assert your beliefs and your passions, remember how lucky you are to be training and working with the best coach and triathlon team in the world, teamTBB, and, learn so you can move forwards to be stronger to fight another day. teamTBB bootcamp, Thailand

Don’t be afraid of the space between your dream and reality.

If you can dream it, you can make it so.”

I’m back in Thailand again enjoying a teamTBB training camp. I was a bit nervous about what the boss was going to say about my fitness after having some forced time off over the winter from whacking my knee jumping into a pool. But I’m pleased to say I seem to be going better than ever.  Continue reading

One of the best Xmas & NY’s ever!

Christmas Lunch: Grandma & me

I got caught up in the European flight cancellations on my flight home from Thailand. Many on my flight were being re-booked for 30th December so I wasn’t holding out much hope. I wasn’t exactly enthralled at the prospect of spending xmas alone in a hotel room in Bangkok! But, in the end, it all worked out wonderfully and I made it back for Christmas and one of my best friend’s wedding making for one of the best Christmas and New Year’s ever…

9th at the Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championships

Happy to have come in the top 10 amongst a quality pro women field but overall disappointed not to be able to back up last week with another good result. In particular, gutted to lose out on a pay cheque from the generous prize purse offered by these Championships by just 1 position! 8th = $1,000, 9th = $0. Sorry mum but your Xmas pressie will be a cheapie from one of the Thai markets this year!

This was my FANTASTIC support crew from Oz. I met them whilst training in one of the hotel pools during the build up to the race and they decided to wear “Team Emma Ruth Smith” T-Shirts. Brilliant! Thanks guys!!

I came 2nd at the Laguna Phuket Triathlon yesterday!
